I finally returned to Greece albeit very differently to 40 years ago.

The flight was much speedier than back then… barely had time to settle in and enjoy the massage seat and sea breeze scent that was wafting around and getting me in the mood! And the panoramic windows on the plane offered such incredible views that I didn’t even use the holographic entertainment hub. Maybe when I come back!

My Greek has suffered over the years so being able to use AI was great when I was having problems remembering the words.

And not having a drivers licence was no problem with self-driving cars which took me where I wanted after a quick programme.

It was great to visit the Acropolis again, and not have to climb the steps at my age. The escalator style stair certainly got me there quicker and gave me lots of information as certain areas came into view. It is great how they have actually masked it to fit in with the natural surroundings and not spoil the majesty of the area.

I managed to avoid the restaurants using robot service with the predictive software you recommended, as nothing is better than authentic Greek hospitality.

I actually visited the Archaeology museum for the first time. They have state of the art technology that allows you to sit in one place and view many different pieces and collections by moving the walls and turning them. A great way to display many more items that they just didn’t have room for before.

My favourite place is still the Temple of Hephaestus and the Agora. And being able to ask the AI for more information on points that interested me was great – a much more personalised experience.

Wandering around the flea market was still a great experience, although I do feel using robot assistants in the shops was not a great idea. The robots just will not barter!

And I have to admit you were right about the VR headset. It has added a whole new dimension to the sites. Not only does it show me everything in all its former glory, I was actually walking among the great philosophers and historians. Oh to have lived in their era!

I can’t wait to discover more in this city which is mixing new and old! Although I don’t think I can stomach the dinner in the sky restaurant, even if the views, food and commentary are out of this world.

I am planning a trip to Santorini on a mobile island, which in some ways is a cruise ship I suppose. And once there I intend to stay in one of the underwater hotels and see Atlantis in all its glory. I certainly couldn’t have done this 40 years ago.

See you soon.
