I have just been on the most incredible holiday. I went on a tour of South America, spending a few days in each country. I was inspired to go on this trip after I used a virtual reality programme to explore travel options at home last year. It was so exciting I decided that I wanted to go and experience it for real. I went online to reserve a place on the tour and was able to book a sonic jet flight. The flight was so fast, it only took 2 hours to arrive in Argentina, from London, and it was so comfortable! The seats were luxurious and there was food and drink available on tap during the flight from an extensive in-flight menu presented on a screen, you just pressed what you wanted and it was delivered to your seat through a tube.
When we arrived we were whisked to 5 star hotels in each location in a self-driving vehicle which collected us from the airport or from our previous destination. We can check into all hotels and lodges through electronic tablets or holographic check-in desks. Our hotels had an electronic window through which we could change the viewpoint by rotating the room, we could also use the window as a giant a TV screen to watchable anything we wanted (any film of tv show you could think of was available on request) Room service offered any food from around the world, also delivered by robot to your room, which were also cleaned by robots each day. The tap in the bedroom would dispense any drink you chose from a large menu so you did not have to go to the bar if you didn’t feel like it.
Whilst we were there we did a variety of exciting activities. We tried out hover boards to tour around the city and visit the markets. One day we went diving in a protective bubble which surrounded us so we were swimming but could still breathe and were protected from sharks and jellyfish – it was the most amazing thing I have ever done! You would love it. On some days we just relaxed on the beach, I took the new sun screen which lets you sun tan but completely protects you from any harmful cancer causing rays, and which can’t be washed off by the sea, I look so brown but was totally safe! We also visited some of the most amazing Maya and Inca settlements but there was the option to travel up the mountains in self driving vehicles if walking was not possible. When we talked to the local people, we simply put on a headset and pressed a button to enable anything they were saying to be instantly translated into English. When we answered, they could also use a headset to enable them to understand us, and thus we communicated without any difficulty. It was fantastic not having any communication problems, and we were able to learn so much more about the culture.
I have so many photos stored in my memory chip so show you when I next see you.
Lots of love, Lucy
